All State officials are required to take an oath and swear to uphold the US Constitution by Title 4, U.S.C., §101; which I take to mean they are bound by oath to fulfill the stated purpose of our government. Blameworthy in deed and indeed is the perjurer who willfully fails to do what he or she has sworn to do. [Cf.: JAMES 5:12.]
